"Live Well" Health Fair

Healthfair We recently participated in the "Live Well" Health Fair sponsered by North Mississippi Medical Center.

We share with them a strong desire to help people be healthier.  We were pleased to be able to offer a free screening for mouth cancer, which is a very serious type of cancer.  Currently only half of all patients diagnosed with oral cancer survive more than five years.

Regular dental check-ups which include an examination of the entire mouth are essential in the early detection of cancerous and pre-cancerous conditions.

It is gum disease and not tooth decay that is the leading cause of adult tooth loss. The American Dental Association states that 75% of all adults will develop some form of gum disease during their lives.  Recent studies are also showing evidence that link infections in the mouth to other health problems.

Your Child's Teeth

The Growing Years: From Birth to Six

A baby's front four teeth usually erupt first, typically at about six months of age, although some children don't have their first tooth until 12 or 14 months.  Most children have a full set of 20 primary teeth by the time they are three years old.  As your child grows, the jaws also grow, making room for the permanent teeth that will begin to erupt at about age six.
